Microsoft has banned the installation of wrong drivers in Windows 10

The next Windows 10 update brought a significant change to the operating system algorithm. This time, the change affected the installation of hardware drivers, which will now have to be tested for compliance with the new company policy.

Microsoft said the new driver verification model can provide adequate security and protect users from compromise on devices running Windows 10. If during the installation of a driver Windows is unable to verify its publisher, a message will be displayed on the screen. This will automatically terminate the installation process.

The driver’s signature will also indicate that the process was terminated due to the inability to authenticate. This solution may make it impossible to install drivers for old hardware. In these cases, Microsoft recommends that you contact the developers of the relevant software with a request to update the software, otherwise the installation will be impossible.
